Ivanti brought their Interchange Unplugged one day event to London on April 26th 2018. M-Tech signed up and headed to the city to hear more about the Ivanti solutions powered by LANDESK, AppSense, Shavlik, HEAT Software, Concorde and RES.
The day was held at conference venue 30 Euston Square and the branding team went to town. Along with the Ivanti canvas bags filled with literature were Ivanti lollies, teddies, beer mats, a photo booth pop-up and a Twitter display (which we got featured on!).
The premise of the day was to provide educational content and some break-out sessions, designed to improve the understanding of Ivanti and its solutions.
Ivanti Interchange Unplugged opened with a Welcome from Nigel Seddon, VP Northern Europe, followed by a talk on Strategy and Vision from Andrew Brickell, Sales Director.
Chief Technologist Simon Townsend then took over the hosting duties for the Solutions Keynote, enlightening us with further details about some of the new Ivanti solutions. We had a preview of the newly designed self-service portal and some insights into the 2018 EPM release. Tim Cox, Principal Sales Engineer, also gave us a brief roadmap of security, how they’ve merged the best of breed acquisitions into Ivanti Essential Security Controls.
One of M-Tech’s favourite speakers then graced the stage, Bob Janssen, now Chief Technologist at Ivanti, formerly Founder and CEO of RES. Bob has a knack of creating fascinating and engaging talks and this one certainly didn’t disappoint. Focussing on ‘innovation’, we learnt that ‘FAIL’ simply means ‘First Attempt In Learning’ and received a brief history of SpaceX (Bob’s a huge fan!). As well as being an excellent speaker, Mr Janssen does of course have a vital role to play at Ivanti and bravely gave us a live demo of his ‘Pulse’ project – a way of searching through the Ivanti software that’s as intuitive and useful as Google search.
The morning sessions concluded for lunch, with a couple of hundred delegates networking and sharing stories about their successes and experiences with the Ivanti solutions.
The day then split out into breakout sessions where we had the opportunity to sit in on two different topics of four. Although it would have been great hear the content at each session, we picked firstly The Automated Approach, led by Peter Derby and Bas Van Goor. Peter and Bas gave us an insight and demo into the automation layer that runs under all of the Ivanti stack. The audience were wholly engaged and asked plenty of questions into the inner workings of automation and the self-service aspect.
For the final session of the day we had a tough choice but ultimately went with Chris Powell and Richard McNeill’s Full Application Lifecycle: ITSM & Security discussion. Again, heavily featuring the benefits of automation, Chris and Richard highlighted how IT Service Management and Security were worlds apart in many organisations and how they could benefit by aligning with one another. The group were given a demo of the Ivanti IT Support Portal Demo and how it can lead to increased transparency across the business.
The overall takeaway from the day was how the Ivanti suite can be used to unify departments and achieve complementary, business focussed goals.
Thank you to Ivanti for hosting such a well-organised, informative day, we look forward to attending the next Interchange Unplugged.
